Porky Pig and Daffy Duck are Earth’s only hope against the threat of alien invasion. The first Looney Tunes film to be released in theaters that is not distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film was originally intended to be released exclusively on the streaming service Max. After the studio decided not to release it, the film was sent to other distributors. GFM Animation eventually acquired worldwide distribution rights and changed the film’s theatrical release. Inside the meteor, Daffy demonstrates his talent with levers: he pulls the lever to lower the machine and pushes it to raise it. Porky does the same later in the scene. But with Porky and Petunia strapped in, Daffy pushes the lever forward and the machine still fails them. At the end of the credits, Porky Pig utters his classic line, “That’s it, people!” but is interrupted. Daffy Duck telling him that this is not the end of the movie and that a sequel is needed. The story is a little, well, crazy, but what else would you expect from Looney Tunes, but Daffy Duck and Dick Pig works as a movie. I have to admit, though, that the action was a bit over the top. Sure, we’re talking about Looney Tunes here, especially Daffy Duck, but still. Then the joke fell a bit flat for me. There were some funny moments, no doubt, but the proper wit and humor that defines Looney Tunes was either missing or rare. But other than that, I can recommend this movie as a hand-drawn animation in today’s world. This review comes from Germany, where the movie has already premiered.
